Year End Holiday Family Day

Our Family Program team recently held the Year End Holiday Family Day. Families celebrated their culture through holiday cooking demos, music, holiday crafts, games, and dance. The event included Indigenous teachings from Deborah Tacan, Cultural Support Worker from 60’s Scoop “Healing the Family Within” Program, Brandon Friendship Center and an inspirational message from Aida Harrison, owner of Aida’s Catering and WIS Board Member.   Wearing their traditional attire, our families shared their love for their home country with other families as they enjoyed a taste of favorite dish from Nigeria and the Philippines. CBC Kids Video Games session

CBC Kids, Western Manitoba Regional Library together with WIS offered a free sessions in Brandon for kids aged 7-10 who are Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit or Métis) or are newcomers to Canada, and interested in an introduction to how video games are made! In each session, CBC Kids TV host Tony Kim took kids on a fun and engaging journey into the world of video games. MB Minister, Wayne Ewasko Visit

On Monday, August 9, 2021, WIS Brandon had the Provincial Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Immigration, the Honourable Wayne Ewasko, visit the office. Pictured here is Enver Naidoo, WIS Executive Director, Wayne Ewasko and Angela Mowbray, WIS Language Program Manager. We were happy to meet with the Minister. We gave him a tour of WIS and discussed some exciting future opportunities for our programs and clients.
